Every machine project re-implements the same axis logic slightly differently, and each re-implementation carries its own defects. I built a reusable library of motion function blocks that made axis control a configured component rather than a rewritten one.

What is in it

  • Axis control — a uniform interface over MC_Power, MC_Home, MC_Reset and the MC_Move* family, so calling code does not change with the drive
  • Homing — the reference-approach strategies real machines need, and correct behaviour when homing is interrupted
  • Cam profiles — coordinated multi-axis motion for cyclic machinery
  • Diagnostics — fault classification that says which axis, which condition and what to do, rather than surfacing a raw drive code to an operator
  • Commissioning — a one-click bring-up path that took a new axis from wired to moving without hand-editing a project

The transferable part

This is trajectory generation, closed-loop position control and coordinated multi-axis motion. Change the vocabulary and it is robot motion control — the same problems of following error, jerk limiting, synchronisation and safe recovery from a fault mid-move.
